Gear is gratefully received…
We gather new & used sports gear, especially balls to put back out into our community to local kids including those who are unable to access or purchase their own. Items come to us via collection bins around our region, we’re hugely appreciate of our REPLAY supporters and the general public that help make this happen.
…..gear is ready to go back out
Every item we collect is checked over, given a bit of love (cleaned, balls pumped up) & allocated it’s own number. It is then bundled into a drawstring bag along with a a little note (including a few technical tips and fun play ideas). Depending what ball/code is going out, we also add other bits and pieces such as a few field markers (to use as goals, kicking tees) or giant chalk (to mark out a court).
Each bundle is then good to go, distributed through several channels to reach an active Kiwi kid.

a sample REPLAY bundle ready to go – drawstring bag, 4 dome markers, rugby training ball, note inside with some ideas.
We also recycle sports gear to organisations who need a bit of help with their sports equipment supply such as early childhood centres. We recently visited a wonderful organisation that needed some balls replaced – we added some football nets, a tennis net, kids sized tennis racquets, low compression tennis balls & several other pieces of gear.
We are also looking forward to collaborating with Sport Manawatu to connect sports gear to kids and their families through their Active Families and Active Teens programme.
Our story
REPLAY began in February 2017, founded by the McLean Family (Millie, Lucy & their Mum & Dad) in their garage in Palmerston North.
After having a clean out at home one weekend a range of outgrown and pre-loved sport gear, mostly balls, were found to be no longer used or needed. Keen to share their love of sport & encourage kids in their community to be active, the gear, in good condition, just needed a new home, to be “played with again”.
Approximately 48 bundles of gear were duly passed on, allowing another kiwi kid to have some fun, learn a few skills, perhaps create their own crazy cool game. This was the start of REPLAY.
To date we’ve gratefully received over 400 pieces of sports equipment, mostly balls. We’ve also partnered up with some awesome businesses & organisations – Pita Pit, Sport Manawatu, Massey University Recreation Centre, Feilding Library & Westpac in the Manawatu/Tararua region – their fantastic support allows us to connect more sports gear from one family to another, from one kiwi kid to another. Another awesome business, Bennett Logistics Solutions provides warehouse space for the REPLAY gear.
